Importing invoices with a CSV file

Last updated October 15, 2026

If you have been invoicing in a spreadsheet or another tool, you can bring those invoices into BizOS with a CSV file instead of recreating each one by hand.

Invoice import is available on every plan, including Foundation. This is different from contact and product import, which are only available on Momentum and Apex. So if you are on Foundation, you can import your invoices even though the other two imports are not open to you.

Export your invoices as a CSV file from wherever they currently live, whether that is Excel, Google Sheets, or another tool. Then go to Invoices and choose Import.

The main thing to get right is how your file is laid out. Each row is one line item, not one whole invoice. If an invoice has three line items, it takes three rows. An invoice reference column tells BizOS which rows belong together, so every row with the same reference becomes a single invoice.

Each invoice also needs a status, which can be draft, sent, paid, or overdue. For invoices marked as paid, include the date they were paid.

When you import a paid invoice, BizOS records the income on the paid date from your file, not on the day you run the import. This keeps your income in the right period.

If an invoice in your file has the same number as one already in BizOS, it is skipped, so nothing gets created twice. Your plan's limits still apply to imported invoices.
