Building your first automation

A good first automation is usually a simple one. Here is an example that tags a contact automatically when they are added, so you can build the habit before creating something more complex.
Go to Automations and click New Automation. Choose your trigger. For this example, choose Contact Added.
Next, add an action. Choose Add Tag, and set the tag to something like New Lead. Save the automation and turn it on.
From this point forward, every new contact added to your account will automatically receive that tag, without you having to do anything yourself.
Once you are comfortable with a simple automation like this, you can build more useful ones, such as sending a welcome email when a contact is added, or tagging a contact when an invoice becomes overdue so you know to follow up. The next article has a few more examples worth trying.
