Automation builder overview

Last updated August 26, 2026

Automations let BizOS do repetitive work for you, so you are not manually sending the same follow up email or updating the same tag every time something happens.

An automation is made up of a trigger and one or more actions. A trigger is the event that starts the automation, for example a new contact being added, an invoice being sent, paid, or becoming overdue, or a deal moving to a new pipeline stage. An action is what happens next, such as sending an email, adding a tag, updating a status, or waiting a set amount of time before continuing.

The automation builder itself, meaning triggers and actions, is available on every plan starting with Foundation. On Foundation, you can build up to 5 automations. Momentum raises that to 20, and Apex removes the limit entirely.

More advanced features, like conditions and branching logic, are only available on Apex, and are covered in a separate article.

To get started, go to Automations and click New Automation. The next article walks through building a simple one from scratch.
