Why an automation is not running
Last updated July 16, 2026
If an automation does not seem to be running, a few things are worth checking first.
Make sure the automation is actually turned on. It is easy to build one and forget to activate it before leaving the page.
Check that the trigger matches what you expect to happen. For example, if your trigger is Invoice Paid, it will not run when an invoice is simply sent, only once it is marked paid.
If you are on Foundation or Momentum, check whether you have reached your plan's automation limit. If you are at the limit, existing automations still run normally, but you will not be able to create new ones until you remove one or move to a higher plan.
If you are trying to use conditions or branching and nothing seems to happen, keep in mind that feature is only available on Apex. On Foundation and Momentum, automations run in a straight line from trigger to action without conditional logic.
If you have checked all of this and an automation still is not behaving as expected, contact support at hello@ai1team.com with the automation name and what you expected it to do.
